What is a Restoration Company?

soria_q5k45t • Mar 07, 2022

When disaster strikes and your house experiences flooding, the first person you think to call is your local plumber. Plumbers, however, usually won’t work on a job site that is still wet. Who you should have called was your trusted restoration company.

Choosing a good restoration company can eliminate a lot of headaches. You should expect a reputable restoration company to respond to assess the damage, remove any hazardous materials from the job site, and dry out the remainder of the water damage. They will also clean up any mold that is found during the demolition process.

What should you expect from your Restoration company:

Once you choose a reputable restoration company, they should respond within 24 hours. A quick response time will ensure that the least amount of damage will occur. Letting water stand for too long can create mold and other damage. Moisture readings and room measurements will be taken to determine the best use of equipment. On average, it should take 3-5 days to dry out water damage. A three-day minimum will provide accurate readings, but unless your water damage is extreme, 5 days is a reasonable time frame to expect.

Now that the restoration company is here:

Be honest with your restoration company. You may be asked a series of questions that may include subjects such as the type of flooring, if you suspect where the leak is coming from, is the water turned off, and how long you think the leak has been there. These are important questions because they help us to better estimate the scope of work.

A good restoration company will take the information provided and do their best to salvage any materials that aren’t at risk for developing further damage. While drywall should be cut down to minimize the potential for mold growth, flooring doesn’t always need to be removed. Talk to your tech about the different options for drying and remediation.

Beyond water damage:

While restoration companies primarily deal with water and mold damage, those are not the only services offered. Fire damage and disease control are services that are often also offered as well. Fire damage can cause more damage than just what u see. Beyond the basics of charring and structural damage from the main fire, smoke damage through the rest of the house can also be a problem. Restoration companies are trained to deal with this type of problem to minimize the damage all around.

When it comes to your health, its hard to know how to prevent the spread of diseases. Especially in today’s world, we try our best to follow the guidelines given to us. But that doesn’t mean that disease won’t find us. If it should happen, a restoration company can help. They are certified to deal with environmental pathogens such as salmonella, E. coli, MRSA, influenza and even Covid-19. If you are experiencing reoccurring infections like these, you should probably call a restoration company to come and do an aerosolized cleaning in your home. Its quick and effective and, if done by a reputable company, can be just as affective as the cleanings major companies do to take care of these same problems.

Here at Soria Environmental, we are committed to making your life easier in these difficult times. Our company is equipped to deal with any water, mold, fire, and disinfecting services.
